Drontal Puppy Suspension is ideal for treating puppies and young dogs up to one year of age for roundworms (ascarids), in particular Toxocara canis, which is present in all puppies. It's also be effective against hookworm and whipworm, which are less common but need to be controlled if present. Unlike the other Drontal formulations it is not effective against tapeworm infections – nor does it need to be, as tapeworms do not normally infect puppies.
Roundworms are cunning blighters and get into pups through their mother's womb and milk and so occur in dogs at a very early age.
It is recommended that treatment with Drontal Puppy Suspension should start at 2 weeks of age and be repeated at two weekly intervals until 12 weeks of age.
Given by mouth, Drontal Puppy Suspension may be given directly to the pup or mixed with the feed. No special dietary measures are necessary. The dose is 1 ml per kilogram.
